An oil and filter change is part of any engine service. By having the oil and filter changed at the manufacturer’s recommended intervals you will enhance the life expectancy of your car’s engine. Oil particles disintegrate as they ‘lubricate’ the engine. The oil filter collects these particles. Over time, the particles build up and if the filter isn’t changed the oil pump will struggle to push as much oil through. This could potentially cause engine damage.
- During a manufacturer’s service, other components are checked or replaced. The manufacturer sets the service intervals based on knowledge of the wear of components.
